I sit
I stand
I walk
I cry
I do everything and anything not embrace the gift of rhymes
That You have shown
Bestowed
Embedded in my heart of hearts
But I place it in a cage
Locked away in my brain
That makes me not
Feel
Feel anything but rage
And You ask me where is the love in you?
That I’ve shown you
That I’ve put on display
The brutal scars in my hands and feet and side
Is for people to know Me – The Way
Then I ask Him: “God, What does that have to do with me?”
Rhyming is just for me
I use it to release
The tension build
My crack in the wall
Just say what I need to say
Not walking around like a time bomb each day
Then He says
Your gift may have the letter I
But it’s not for you alone
It’s for your friends you have conversations with on the phone
Your words are a ministry to people who may face hurt and pain
Your rhymes are for those with suicidal thoughts, under stress and strain
You speak with authority
And there’s is a release of fear in tears
Your words are inspired by Me, helping others to realize I am near
The words you speak usher in transformation
Breathing life into a dead situation
Divine healing
Divine restoration
So when you hide your gift, who will stand?
Who will say that I am the Great I Am?
How will the body of Christ be changed if you reject your purpose?
Who will see me when in this race of life, you claim to be first?
It’s time
Time to embrace the gift that lies within your palms
The gift I’ve given to soothe and calm
Letting people know that there is a fresh start
Letting them know I need to dwell within their heart
Inspiration in the midst of denial
Freedom in the midst of trial
Stand boldly with your innovative gene
Create!
Finally, remember this
When time stands still
And weary letters seem to drive you insane
It’s for my glory
Live for the glory of my Name
