Your Love Makes Me Weak

If I sit and do not speak,
I am dumb.
If I talk with no ability to walk,
I am lame.
If I see and never cock my ear to hear,
I am deaf.
If I stumble feeling for what isn’t there,
I am blind.
If I move without feeling the room,
I am anaptic.
If I open my mouth to eat but can never tell the taste,
I am ageusic.
If I taste but never sense the aroma of my food
I am anosmic.

But if I live, never having to hold you in my arms, never hearing you sing in my ear, never tasting the kiss of your lips, never seeing the silhouette of your body, never calling your name, never smelling your feet after a long day then I am nothing – I do not live.

It is true when that day comes, and I Iay still without you, with no purpose in my body,
Surely I am dead.
