Sovereign

It is so easy to pluck your eyes out
Because of the struggles in the heart
Shot down by external activities
Seeing the hearts of mankind be driven by hate
Politicians pushing their own agendas without even thinking of the oppressed
Parents failing at the one job they have
Hearing bullets of death
Feeling the effects of insults
Smelling toxic fumes
Touching destruction

And internally is a war all by itself
There are days when rage abides here
For I fail to see the hand of God in my life
Questions still rock my core
Am I even a Christian anymore?
My hands
Trained for war grow tired
As if the end of the world can’t come sooner
Or if God would show me compassion in the struggle
By taking breath from my lungs
Just for me to meet Him

Still, I am here
This trouble is for a moment
And He is near to the brokenhearted
Though my body is wasting away
Though I bleed for society
I am being renewed day by day
May I cease to see the present
To recognize the beauty of hope
For the future is a masterpiece for those who hope in the Lord
And He’s still in control
Sovereign
