Pinocchio Gamer

Most, if not all persons, have heard about the story of Pinocchio. He is a wooden creature that became a real boy at the bidding of fairies. He had to be a good boy at all costs. If he lied, his nose would grow long. Pinocchio, with the best of intentions, struggled to be good. Eventually, he remained a real boy for the rest of his life. He also did good consistently.

Though there are many versions to this story, one thing was clear. His life was plagued by lying. This is the same for men and women who play with the emotions of people they are not sure they want to pursue. It is as if the other person is viewed as a toy. The act committed is just a game. They themselves are Pinocchio Gamers.

Pinocchio Gamers often give a perception of what love is. This causes the other party to hope in them and hold them to high esteem. Every word is seen as truth. Every action is seen as sincere, but it is all an act. They never loved the soul of another, thus treating the pursued like joysticks in their hands. They flirt with anyone that tickles their fancy. This also opens the door to infidelity.

“The Game” is damaging for both parties.

For the pursued, once the lie is found out, heartbreak is imminent. Self-worth, if not grounded, will be questioned. Being strung along to build up someone’s ego is not a worthwhile experience. Emotional damage is done. Perceptions of what love should look like is thwarted. These persons end up scarred, maybe for life.

For the pursuer, a bad reputation will follow, just like Pinocchio. He / She will be known as a sad case of a human being. These persons will be recognized for taking advantage of persons, knowing that emotions are fickle. He / She will be known for breaking others to stroke his / her ego.

If you are a Pinocchio Gamer, I pray you stop fiddling with the emotions of individuals. They are worth MORE. You are better than the “Game”. The person you pursue should be treated like a rare gem in human form. Trust me, breaking hearts does not make you a man or woman. It transforms you into a joker. This all but ruins your chances for true love and happiness. Like Pinocchio, your story does not have to end in lies. Do good consistently.

As for those who have been hurt, I pray you heal no matter how long it takes. Remind yourself that you are worthy of love every day. Surround yourself with folks who will strengthen you, while you do the same for them.

For those who are interested in pursuing a relationship: Be on your guard. Don’t pursue a relationship with a Gamer, and don’t be one. Do better. Be better.
