Love At My Wits End

It’s like I took a wrong turn
On Elm Street, only…
The shadows are cast on waters
And the signs are not signs at all they’re signals
Telling me to go back the way I came
But that’s just it, I like coming –
to you.

It was a quarter past 3, not pm
Not a time that I like to be, awake.
But here I am, counting sheep 1, 2, 3
Is that a lucky number for me?
Three times the charm, three days since you’ve entered my way
Yet here I stay, watching the night like the 3 wise men.

See I told you, there’s a thing with threes unlike the trees that sway in the night instead of the day. Because light does not differ in this space. It is just a grace that illuminates upon your face and I smile each time you do come around. Praying this time I’ll be found with my hands in the air, waving at people who never seem to care, simply because you love me.
